Camping First Aid Kits

Its just over a month and it will be the Easter Break in Australia and lots of families will be looking to venture outdoors. However one of the items that most commonly get forgotten about is the Camping First Aid Kit.

Now is the time to make sure that you kit is upto date and that none of the items in the first aid kit have in fact expired. Many items like the gauses, the salt washes and even some of the liquids expire after twelve months so it is crucial that you make sure they are okay.

If you are ever unsure, check the expiry date on the item. You never want to be unprepared in an emergency so if you are 100% certain the item is okay then throw it out and get a new item.

If you are looking for a new camping first aid kits then I recommend that you check out our survival first aid kits. They are 100% ideal for camping.

The other thing to remember is to ensure that your first aid training and cpr is up todate. CPR is changing all the time so it is essential you undertake a CPR Refresher every 12 months.

Heat Exhaustion

As the Northern Hemisphere goes into its summertime vacation period, on of the key issues you need to be very careful of is the heat. Whilst for most of us the heat is a welcomed result from a cold winter, the heat can creep up on us and lead to unwanted emergencies such as heat exhaustion.

Commonly heat exhaustion is associated with people in the sporting arena, that is seeing runners fall over due to the heat or lost bushwalkers being found extremely dehydrated. These are extreme forms of heat exhaustion but it can also occur in the most unlikely of locations like in laundries, in kitchens or even in steam rooms.

Heat Exhaustion is extremely serious as it can lead to organ failure including the kidneys or repiratory distress.

Whenever you are working in hot locations ensure that you hydrate regularly with plain water.

I have put together a webpage that will explain the first aid for Heat Exhaustion. I also recommend that you undertake a full first aid training course so that you know how to deal with any first aid situation.
